Signs Symptoms of Mono
Mono (Mononucleosis) is a viral infectious disease. Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) causes the disease. Adolescent and young adults, children are affected by the virus. Adults have resistance to the virus. It makes one very tired and fatigue for a long time. Enough rest and careful living is needed during this time. It is transmitted from one person to other through saliva, mucus from nose and throat, and tears. It is called kissing disease; it is transmitted through kissing. An isolated living during this time is recommended. Once mono goes away the virus remains dormant but can become active at times. Once active virus is transmitted.
The symptom of mono is not observed immediately after infection. It takes about four to six weeks for the symptoms of mono to appear. High fever and fatigue are the common signs of mono.
Signs Symptoms of Mono are:
Fatigue, weakness, Sore throat, a strep throat is not cured by antibiotics,
High Fever, Swollen lymph nodes in neck and armpits, Headache, Skin Rash, Loss of appetite, Soft swollen spleen (severe pain in upper left part of belly may indicate rupture spleen), Night sweats, fatigue, enlarged lymph and swollen spleen may be observed even after all other symptoms disappear.
One should go to the Doctor as soon as one or many of the symptoms are observed. Blood Tests (monospot and Epstein-Barr virus test) are done to diagnose the mono.
